[Hi, Johto. Enjoy the sound of a heart monitor breaking your otherwise quiet night, along with a rather bright blue glow before the camera on this end can adjust. That is what happens when a gear gets turned on from relative darkness and is soon faced into light, so what can you do? Not much besides wait for it to clear and reveal a room in a Pokémon Center somewhere, with a tank of water in the center and a chair nearby.

There's also a tiny Horsea floating in the tank with what can only be an oxygen mask attached to its snout and leads attached to its body. That must be the source of the sound, but the source of the feed isn't so easily traced back right away. It takes a moment, but a sound that can only be a Dragonair humming soon breaks the monitor's steady beeping, and the feed shifts a bit to reveal that it is instead a Dragonair, coiled in the corner of the room and in control of the gear with his tail. The Dragonair looks looks up, shifting the camera back towards the tank as his trainer enters with a nurse right behind him, taking a seat while the nurse does her checking, then looks to the boy who...looks about ready to fall over.]

"Mr. Hitsugaya, are you sure you'd like to stay? There's nothing we can do but wait--"

Thank you, but I'm sure.

[The nurse sighs at his stubborness, but doesn't bring up the issue again as she notes down the changes on the chart in her hand, looking to the clock on the wall then back to Hitsugaya.]

"I suppose there are worse places to be spending your birthday. Call for us if anything changes."

[With that, the nurse leaves him staring at the clock, and after a moment, he sighs and looks back to the tank. Yeeeep. Guess who's spending his birthday in the Pokemon Center and just doesn't seem to care. This guy, that's for sure. He only sits, watching the Horsea for long moment and saying nothing while Shiryuu squeezes the gear and shuts it off. They're in for a long night.]

[He doesn't respond for a moment, but when he does, his voice is quiet. Even for them, death is never easy to deal with.]

Everything can die, Matsumoto. You know that.

[...yeaaah. No one exactly told him that death doesn't happen here.]

[He'd never mention it, and he doesn't intend to leave Saffron anyway...not for a while, at any rate. She'll probably have to drag him out if she wants to get him to Johto again.]

Everyone's going to have to get used to using it sooner or later, whether or not they're okay with it. It seems to be the only method of travel between Johto and Kanto so far.

Fine. Do that if that's what you want to do, but I can't promise anything.

Technically, yes. But being human here would throw that idea off quite easily.

[ She'd only drag him if he had any business to do there. Otherwise, he's free to do whatever he wants! ]

Popura's around your physical age, and she the mentality to match it, too. And with her personality, she'd be easily traumatized by an event like the train incident. I have to be more patient with her.

But I'm travelling with Rangiku-san, so... It's not like she'd get lost again, would she?

But not here. Death doesn't exist here. No one ever dies. It's odd too. An assassin one time face shotted a man and he was only out for a couple of seconds. They just faint. A person one time fell from the sky and landed with only minor injuries. Say what you want, Taichou, but death isn't real here. [ oh she will!!!!! B) ]

There do appear to be quite a few of us like that here. I doubt this place cares who or what it brings in.

[Well, it's a good thing that she told him, because it stops whatever he was about to say dead in its tracks. For a moment, it seems like he wants to believe what she's saying without hesitation, but then his logical side rears it's head and he frowns.]

...And you're sure of this? Absolutely sure?

[Slight shrug. She might be better behaved with Orihime around, but...]

Provided she doesn't end up on the run from the police again, she'll most likely stay in the cities. I doubt she could get lost there if you're around.

[Then it's a good thing all his business is in Saffron! He's avoiding that train like the plague...for now, anyway.]

I did say sooner or later, Ayuzawa. I'm not expecting anyone to get over what happened quickly.

[Especially if she's actually around the age everyone mistakes him to be....yeah, he can get it'll take a while. Hopefully less time than actually getting him to like his birthday, though.]

It's just another day. There's no need to go out of your way and make plans for something when you have other things to do.

O...O-On the run from the police?!

[ She's been doing the same, but she's really only willing to go to Saffron to visit her friends for the holidays. And, well, for Hitsugaya's birthday, of course, whether he likes it or not!

And ironically, Popura's older than Misaki- just like Hitsugaya, she looks younger than she really is, though only by a few years- so it may not take as long as Misaki thinks. Definitely not as long as getting Hitsugaya to like his birthday, that's for sure... ] But it's not just another day, it's a day that's just as important to me as all of those other plans are!

...And besides, I still have to give you your Christmas gift! So if you don't want me to come over for your birthday, then at least let me come over to give you your present!

Now, why would I lie to you? Especially about a subject like this. I'm not trying to get out of work, here. [ She'll remain serious and firm, but she'll use that irrelevant piece of logic as evidence anyways! ]

Probably, yeah... a lot of people I've met here live really interesting lives compared to me, it seems.

[siiiiigh.] I'm not saying you're lying, Matsumoto, I'm only questioning the validity of the information you were given.

[And now he glances back up at the tank, still frowning. He does hope it's true, though...even if it may take a moment more to admit it.]

[Nod....oh, wait...she probably thinks it's serious here.] For leaving her job before she was done for the week. They do it to everyone.

[Well, it's not like he'd say no to company if she's already in town, but...eh, birthday things just aren't something he likes. He'll get over it....much slower than Popura gets over the train, though. That's a fact.

Same as the face he just made; right. Christmas is right after...more people to deal with.]

I won't stop you if that's what you want to do. I just think there are better things you could do with your time.

Interesting isn't always a good thing; it often leads to trouble.

...Oh... [ Why is that not surprising? ] Rangiku-san didn't get arrested, did she?

Why would anyone lie? Officier Jenny stated that this man tried to assassinate someone, he and I later had a chat where he said the only thing that should have happened was his death given the severity of the injuries. It's the truth, taichou. 100%! [ SHE'LL PUSH IT ON YOU ANYWAYS. ]

[It's not surprising because it's Rangiku. Not much is surprising about her anymore.] No. By getting lost she managed to evade capture until the warrant expired. They stopped looking after that.

People lie for various reasons, including to make themselves seem more than they are or to avert suspicion. It depends on their purpose for doing so.

[Need he mention Aizen? Because, really, that guy.....eh, besides, Hitsu's just paranoid. Paranoid but finally accepting the point that maybe death is avoidable here.]

There's nothing we can do but wait and see how things turn out, at any rate.

I guess that's true... but I'd still take interesting over boring, at the very least.
